Dear Parents and Carers,
At both Alwyn and COurthouse we know the importance of play. We see daily how high-quality play transforms our children's health, confidence, and happiness. That’s why we are backing a massive national campaign—and we need 60 seconds of your time to make a difference.
OPAL is aiming for 100,000 signatures on the Plan for Play Petition to secure better recognition and funding for children's play across the country.

We are thrilled to announce that we have signed up to work with OPAL (Outdoor Play and Learning). This will be an 18-month project to improve our playtimes at Courthouse Junior School. This would not be possible without the tremendous help of our PTA.
Children spend 20% of their time at school playing. This equates to 1.4 years of their primary school attendance.
Play is essential for physical, emotional, social, spiritual and intellectual development of each child. An OPAL approach to play allows children the freedom to inclusive play across our entire site, all year round, come rain or shine!
Our best childhood memories center around playing outdoors, climbing trees and exploring the world hands on. OPAL allows us to extend these memories to your children.
This approach will allow children to be more active and have the opportunities to develop key life skills such as teamwork, assessing risk and problem solving. This will prepare them for the next stage in life - whatever venture they may seek.
